I have stood amid the throng
a sea of milling people
elbow to backbone around
and been completely alone.
I have stood with no man near
within natures wilderness
only her creatures about
and felt better companied.
I have stood accompanied
by that one perfect person
lost in her enchanting eyes
and knew my best companion.
I have stood as one apart. I have stood as one of them. I have stood as one with her. I have stood and will still stand.

This is sadly written while also intriguing..Well depicted in my mind..I have read every line and taken in every word..Digested it thought by thought..And wondered of its yesteryears...

Finding the reward of "standing" under any circumstance is privy to few today. Love, companionship, throngdom are all object oriented. Seems, like me, you've found the means of dealing with the ascetic periods, those times when by necessity (or choice) you find that self love sustains like no other. That which is within needs not anything from without. Yes...you will still stand.

One could do worse than take a stand, and your poem proves some stands are much better than others, particularly the kind that leads one to understand. Your poem enhances understanding.
