Way Down South in the Land of Cotton…
Yes, from the song, Dixie,
A poem of sorts for a lady name of Deborah,
She requested to find the land of Dixie,
I hope this for her, suffices,
For as I am not a pixie,
I cannot just wave my wand and produce,
That which no longer does exist, your right, no use…
Never realized actually, how many states took part,
In the cessation from the United States way back when,
Called traitors by some, heroes by others, to me just men,
Doing their job, as seen fit by their government…
War & pestilence, disease & death, many a fine soldier killed in battle,
Both north and south, brother against brother,
How hard that must have been, the brain just did, I would assume rattle,
So many fathers died, and sons, oh woe were the poor mothers, so sad…
The Confederate flag still flies, here and there, not everywhere,
Some find it offensive, some find it patriotic, I find any complaint, idiotic,
We are well past the time of the Civil War, some may still fight it, so much a bore,
War anywhere is something that we all should fight against, just so much abhor…
