Let Me Tell You...

Yesterday, while working, I stopped in a cute little town,

It was at the shore, right on the ocean, named Sea Girt, New Jersey,

Beautifully manicured lawns, trees allowed to grow, landscapers out to mow,

Homes, all very well kept, some large, some smaller, all for the well off, I could see…

Every home on the beach that was occupied had an American flag flying,

The boardwalk was short and not very wide, but a great place to walk,

Near the ocean, easy enough for those of us that use the ocean to talk,

The streets clean, as was the beach, a few too many pipes heading out to sea,

But they are from the past, not used for the dumping anymore,

I had to comment to myself, a nice little town, homes a bit too close, but that’s just me…

I stood on the boardwalk with the walkers and bikers; absorbing the salt air,

Cleansing my lungs, and hopefully my sinus problems in my head under my hair,

In the middle 70s was the temperature, bright sun, no clouds, just so wonderfully fair,

A day I could just give up on work, sit down and read my book,

So that is what I did, I had some time to spare, that’s right boss, so there…

This may not be a poem in the classical sense, but whoever said that I write in that way?

I had to tell you of my beautiful and relaxing half hour or so of a wonderful day,

I had hoped if I did, you could just imagine that time and with me enjoy what I say,

A little cooler today, it is, with a chance of the wet stuff, yes rain, again,

Either way, I had an extremely wonderful visit to a place I don’t often go, yesterday…
