Old Gen…

I live in what is called a self-contained rig,

Only thirty-four feet, not so big,

A/C on the roof, runs off electric,

Power from the local grid, no trick…

When the power does go off, happens quite often,

I got my generator, I call her gennie, or for short, gen,

Sometimes she does not start; she jumps and coughs,

Tonight she did the same, till I changed her blood,

Gave her that life giving transfusion she needed,

Yes an oil change to those of you backyard mechanics,

With a fresh flow of blood/oil she started right up, no fuss…

First time, however it ever happened, she did backfire,

Had the a/c on to give old gen a proper workout,

Once a month for an hour or two, she is loud, no need though to shout,

The front a/c unit is having its problems of late,

Maybe that is the reason she “burped” or is it farted, in this case?

Either way she is running well with the rear a/c unit on,

Powering the rest of the coach, quietly as well,

Must have needed new oil for quite sometime,

Will have to be more diligent, as it is an expensive piece,

Having two a/c units, I can live with just the rear one, as it is newer,

Don’t want to have to buy or otherwise lease,

A new one for the front, at least not this year,

Maybe not till we can get another motor home sometime in the future…

Not a very interesting write herein, I grant you,

Just an update on living conditions for Rufuz and I,

I try to leave the air on, so Rufuz stays cool all day,

At the very least he has all the windows open and a fan with water spray,

He has an easier life than do I or you, I will bet and say…J
