I was there when Christ they did crucify…
There he hung,
On a non-descript hill,
Overlooking the peasantry of Rome,
Crying out for his father to take him to his heavenly home…
As a centurion I did sit,
Not knowing of his power,
Not having the sense to cower,
His companion did him betray,
For a few pieces of gold his eternal soul he did down lay…
I do now cringe at the memory of his thorny crown,
My heart does now stop as I recall in his hands and feet, the nail sound,
Through how many lifetimes must I repent my lack of good judgment?
Before I do make my final descent,
Into the bowels of hell and my eternal torment…
Dearest God on high,
I know now my lack of sense,
Please from this immortal coil me remove,
Take me into your fold,
In my personal defense,
I have over two thousand years did intensely repent…

Beautifully penned! A most profoundly moving piece--thank you!

Poetically, it is fine form and an honest write. I can't imagine what Jerry means, unless, of course, he has recently taken his vows and we now have to address him as Father. Yikes! (grin)
