Rainbow Zen...

Just a fun look, partially at another era, gone by, and of a place I use the name of for all my property or stuff now...keeps me "thinking" younger...ed

Poem Artwork

RAINBOW ZEN…(this was supposed to

                                be alot more colorful)

Not only the name of my home,

A place where I, in past, “communed”,

In those hippy days of yore,

When I was, or thought, a bit happier,

But was in reality just a bit sappier…

Did try all the 60’s drugs,

And all the meditative hugs,

Also had & put together many of my own rugs,

Sold them for money to contribute to the guru,

Little did I know he was nothing more or less than a kangaroo,

Took our money, that he did, and moved to Australia,

We all found that we had been ripped,

Oh well live and learn, the commune seemed to work better,

In his absence, and we all found a little better, we tripped…

Now I use the name, Rainbow Zen, on anything I own,

I would have eventually called the boat that,

If I kept it long enough to have christened her,

My motor home is named this too, as it takes me back,

To a time of my youth,

Where things were simpler, money had no meaning,

And we just loved & loved and showed it in sex,

A time when I could still, get it up, so to speak…

So if on the road you see this old ugly camper,

Bumper stickers depicting a bygone era,

Pass us and give us the peace sign,

We will respond in kind,

And we know you will think us out of our mind,

But we are happy, ole’ Rufuz, Rene’ & I,

As we cruise down the highways & byways,

And at the scenery just sigh…

Wonderful write, Ed. I'll look for you and your happy crew on the road, too.

Long, long, ago, in a galaxy far far away, I chugged around in an old VW Love Bus, peace sign blazing. Loved sleeping in that old bug, too - mostly alone - in the woods - in my hermit days!

from another old hippie, hello, this was an excellent combination of past and present, nicely written. our 'guru' got a fourteen year old girl pregnant and fled back to whence he came...wherever that really was.

This is quite a colorful write Ed....the picture looks fine to me and the words make up for any loss in color LOL...Well...the sixties I remember..but not quite like you do...I guess I took a different path...I kept my distance to drugs and gurus...but I do remember those days....I had my first baby...and was busy with life in that way..but saw a lot on the tv....blessings to you...floria
