In A Perfect World
By: Mary M. Romero
You were the donor Y chromosome to my mother’s X that helped bring me to life.
My father would have wanted me….in a perfect world.
The pain you caused by abusing your wife was nothing compared to that of the abuses and neglect times five for life.
My father would have loved me…in a perfect world.
No tears of joy, only tears of pain, a heart tattered and torn over and over again.
Learning so young about lies and deceit, of not being able to trust or be complete.
My father would have protected me…in a perfect world.
Your anger and denial need not be explained. The Lord has set me free from the misery and pain.
My family is sacred to a heart that has learned; truths are the roots to trust, and love can be returned.
My father would have been proud of me…in a perfect world.
I no longer need, nor want, your idea of acceptance or love.
To me, you vanished with the shedding of my last tear long ago, along with the knowledge that you will never know…
My father could have known a wonderful soul…in a perfect world.
I wish you peace on your journey to the afterlife
Mary
