It's cold outside, I feel the wind
And I can't feel my nose
I'm shaking from the inside out
I think my blood is froze
When getting dressed this morning
My mom said, rather stern
"Do not forget your mittens
When from school, you do return"
As I was walking to the bus stop
They were on my hands, I swear
But I've looked with no success
I can't find them anywhere
I searched in every classroom
I looked up high and low
My luck, it seems, has vanished
And now I, to home, must go
My mom will be so furious
The fault, for this, is mine
This pair of lost and lonely mittens, is-
It's tragic - number nine
I remember lots of things
My birthday and TV shows
So why do I lose my mittens
No one seems to know
My moms says it's just a stage
I must be going through
I surely hope that she is right
'Cause my fingers are turning blue
My allowance has been frozen
Just like my fingers, I know
To finance the brand-new mittens
And teach me responsibility, oh . . .
"THERE'S MOM. . . . RUN!!!!"
