I've already confessed to you all that I'm no Bible expert. Well, as you are about to discover, neither am I a poet. I do occasionally like to jot down my thoughts in rhyme, however, and I thought I'd share this one with you. Please rest assured, I'm not planning to quit my day job!
The Let-Down
I learned long ago to not depend
On humans like me, whether foe or friend.
But I found a Promise I longed to believe,
About a Savior who would never leave.
I trusted God would not let me down.
And then the day that calamity came
I cried aloud to that Holy Name.
Face to the ground, floor bruising my knees,
Desperation tangled with faith in my pleas,
I begged my God not to let me down.
It seemed my prayers were never spoken,
And in the end, my heart was broken.
In spite of the promises from God's Word,
My impassioned cries had gone unheard.
I wept to admit, God had let me down.
Years have past, I look behind
And I am humbled when I find
All things turned out much better than
If God had granted my own plan.
God had never really let me down at all.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
Thanks for blessing me!

Excellent piece of expressive poetry!
Don't quit you day job Liz! Not because of your poem is not good but because even the best poets can't seem to make ends meet.
I want to hear from you again in another poetic song.
May the Lord bless you with abundance and endless agape love,
John Michael
