Lord, I love You, I thank You for Your mercy and grace,

For Your love that makes me want to reach up and embrace

My Healer, My Savior, My Redeemer, My King,

I can’t help but praise You with all of my being.

A song bursts from my mouth, but I have to confess

My voice does not match what my soul tries to express.

In my mind and my heart, my song soars to the sky

As a heavenly tune, but my ears do not lie.

While I long to bless You with lovely, sweet sounds,

My voice brings to mind only wild baying hounds.

You’re enthroned on my praises, but this throne from my lips

Squeaks, shudders, and creaks, and it wobbles and dips.

I hear my friends sing, their voices steady and strong,

Giving others pleasure with their worshipful song.

I wish I could join them as their praises inspire,

But I’ll never be a part of that sanctified choir.

There’s music inside me, I can't figure out why

You gave me a voice that makes young children cry.

But You are the Potter, I’m just clay in Your Hand,

I accept what I’m given though I don’t understand.

Though I try to keep quiet, Lord, I love You too much!

You’ve given it all, how can I keep my mouth shut?

While I sing in a whisper when I'm in a crowd,

By myself I let loose, my voice happy and loud.

I hope You find pleasure in this sincere, joyful noise

As I make up in volume for what I lack in poise.

With no one else listening, I will build You a throne

In this voice You created for Your ears alone.

I love you, Lord!
