Gambling but not chess. Sweating in the streets and waiting for something, anything, to come along and kill the boredom like a fight. so that gossip could begin again
Power outages do give me time to read the old-fashioned way while the sun shines and more sleep when it doesn't. For most of my life I have been a loner, so I don't engage in gossip on my phone or on the Internet.

Yes, an interruption such as a blackout has a volume of worth to anyone who has become entrenched in the digital age to the point of 'Digitism", the malaise of the age. So many have forgotten the rewards of person-to-person, eye contact, and conversation. Thanks for the reminder of what we need to keep in contact with.
