Mitochondrial high

Poem Artwork

i want quiet mornings by the seaside

with a cup of coffee and a fishing rod
even though I don't know how to fish
I just want to have an excuse
to sit there peacefully and breathe
stare at the early morning sun
Allow my pupils to be flooded
with its rays and UVA
addicting, oh yes it is
the invisible red light and its glare
soothing, calming, comforting, healing
takes me to another level
of mitochondrial high
that I can't explain
that dimly mood curving to a smile
fluttering heart
electrons recharged
light being stored in the pigments of my skin
and I have never been more proud
of having this much melanin
carrying such amount of light in me
truly we are- Beings of light
and so I breathe in deeply
in appreciation and gratitude
for when the dusk starts to fall
I go back outside to greet
the rays of the glorious sunset
signaling each cells' timed responses
diving deeply into health
through the lenses
of a melanin filled mitochondriac.

It is so refreshing to read your words that transform the simple pleasures of life into bursts of energy wrapped in a thousand years of living, and seeing, and doing as only a gifted poet can make the transformation. Oh, you have still got it, audrine, and I am still your #1 fan.

YES, EACH DAY WITH THE RISING AND SETTING OF THE SUN WE ARE DULY REMINDED...ONLY FROM OUR CREATOR FLOWS 'BOTH' THE DESIRE FOR, AND THE MIRACULOUS POWER TO RESIDE IN, 'HIS' INEXPLICABLE PEACE. AMEN. MISSED YOUR 'VOICE' AUDRINE...THANK YOU FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

The sun brings life to us all. We are all the beings of light. Beautifully expressed.

It's good to see you posting again. That's an interesting word. I find myself outside soaking in midday sun. "Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun." For a few minutes every day because it takes quite a while for my skin to darken and toughen to take the direct sun very long. I wish I could use the sunrise and sunset like your poem suggests.

I had to laugh out loud, Audrine, with you opening. My sentiments, exactly. I don't like to fish (unlike my brother), but welcome the atmosphere that fishing on a lake or pond provides. Enjoyed your write and ditto what Odin wrote.

A peaceful bit of wordsmithing here. I found myself fully enveloped in your descriptions and, at the same time, melancholy. I've spent so many morning sunrises and afternoon sunsets that your words took me through a multitude of remembered experiences at the shore. If only writers like you could be read by those who need it more. But, that would require they abandon their SM habit and spend some real worthwhile time with some unencumbered self-assessment. Keep writing. Enjoy your work.
