Poem Artwork

 in this world, becoming

a copy of a copy of a copy
can be at times inevitable
so it won't be surprising
when everyone looks
and speaks the same
sings the same songs
dances to the same tones
because we become scared
to show who we are
succumbing to thoughts
and incorrect assumptions
conforming to worldly opinions
of dominating ideas
of should's and should not
but none contains
the contents of one's heart
but dear,  listen
to your own inner voice
you'll see that there's
a thousand paths
a thousand ways to take
and none has to be
the same with someone else
but- are you,
courageous enough
to listen to your intiution
have the boldness
to pursue whatever it dictates
leave somebody's shadow
give rise to your
divine individuality
march against the crowd outside
that are mere ghosts
that haunts your mind
my dear, the world outside
is dead
without your animating power
so breathe
and from within hear
the petals of a blossoming
flower
for perhaps,
one of the greatest horrors
of this world
is actually ending up
a copy of your previous self.

Genetics does seem to have a very good way of copying traits down through the ages. And it certainly is easier to follow than to forge the way. So many fall into that trap and our great followers without a mind of their own. Lots of thoughts crossed my mind while reading your poem with some great conclusions about our lives.

Indeed, what you write here is so true. If we don't find the original within ourselves and what is unique about us, then we will become merely a copy of a copy of a copy, not a very worthy prospect to go through life.

Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
