The memories of a nurse from any war from any time.

Puzzles

I can not remember the hours,

They come one after another.

Young faces and mangled bodies torn beyond recognition.

A puzzle of shredded flesh, with pieces missing,

Why have they vanished, where have they gone.

How can I put the likeness back together again?

The water feels good against my aching flesh,

I must be careful no pieces are washed away.

Wonderful, if slightly macabre thoughts about the ones so badly wounded in conflicts which affect the world since the earliest recorded history.

Poignant. After they are put back together as best the pieces can be placed, they have to put together their shattered lives. That's why I hate war.

Saving lives is far better than taking them.
Medics and nurses rank high on the list

This is an amazing write. Opening our eyes to the casualties of war and those who witness it's wrath and try to make sense of it all. Thank you for sharing!
