BURIED IN TIME

Secrets buried in the sand hold

hidden memories of lives gone by.

Unearthed remains tell a story.

Dug up pottery paint a picture.

Lives in the past merge with the future.

Differences become insignificant.

Time becomes transient.

The cycle begins again.

Days flow into weeks.

Weeks into years.

Years to centuries.

Centuries fly by.

Nothing is new.

The cycle continues.

Our past becomes our future.

Until the sands of time bury our existence.

Then our future becomes our past.

And the cycle begins again.

SOME THINGS ARCHEOLOGISTS CAN EXPLAIN, SOME THINGS REMAIN A MYSTERY, AS YOU SAID...BURIED IN TIME. BUT THAT'S 'HIS' PLAN...GOD'S PERFECT PLAN THAT WE SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FIGURE IT ALL OUT. BUT THEN...WHO WANTS TO? FOR, '...THE JUST LIVE BY FAITH...', WHICH MEANS WE'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW ALL THE SECRETS OF THE PAST. SOMEWHERE ALONG THE WAY WE RECOGNIZE THAT 'HIS' WAYS ARE HIGHER THAN OURS, HIGHER THAN THE SKY IS HIGHER THAN THE EARTH. THERE IS CONTENTMENT AND PEACE IN BEING ABLE TO ACCEPT THIS. THANKS FOR THE SHARE. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

I agree with Kenny when it comes to "the star child". I can feel the rumble of it happening already and the story will have a newer, smarter power. Yes, "And the cycle begins again.".

Love ya!

I agree with Ron.
But I also taste the salty sea.
Thank you for this moment in time!

Reads like a warning to understand the past, or we will repeat it.

You gave this your all, Susanna, and it shows in the writing.
Seconds metamorphose into eternity when all is said and done.

There is a tinge of sadness and a hint of melancholy in your poem. You so beautifully express human emotions and you have a way of choosing just the right imagery to accompany your story. Thank you Susanne, hope you have a wonderful day. Hugs.

Who knows how many mummies and ancient people lie buried in the sand and ice. Kings and Queens and chieftains! The sacrificed men in Danish peat bogs, great Irish elks, this is not new ground for poets and archaelogists, the DNA of Siberian woolly mammoths, this is has been a visited planet and the star child still waits to be found.

An interesting take highlighting the idea of cycles which many of the religious traditions speak of. The symbolism of the circle is never lost.
