Once alone and on our own time begins to tell
the legacy of our born wills, our triumphs and travails
in daily dose of work and rest, in daily choices render
the separated chaff poured through the sifting pan to litter.
Easy on each day to be, steady as we go,
careful not to make offense as our works are sown
in word or plight as we set sight on the trail before
what will compel or compromise the balance of our scores,
to ourselves and others too, each one a tallied mark
the sum of our bequests devised the life we did embark.
In simple schemes of want and need, impoverished or affluent,
steady on and easy goes the course of our commitment.
For to tell of place and time in small and numerous ways
gathered, tossed, all left to be a testament of days
where was performed the tiddly moments of a life in motion
that bid to cast in all its doing a life lived in devotion.
