Mother taught me gentleness
Reading the “Good Book” too
Dad taught me a firm handshake
A man’s word should be his bond
Brothers and sisters taught me to share
Not being greedy with our space.
Wife taught me love and forgiving
Making up when we fall from grace
Daughters taught me how to love back
Understand they were really part of me
Grandchildren taught me how to age
Living young and feeling free.
Professors taught me about my mind
How to use it to better mankind
Military taught me discipline and courage
Cost of freedom I live today
Friends taught me about fellowship
Helping others thru life’s daily walk.
So when He comes to take me from my place on earth
All I hope to hear His voice say
“You took the building blocks of life and lived them everyday
Passing them along to all who crossed your way
Come now to my House and accept your reward
Eternal life of bliss and peace and worry no more”

But wouldn't life be boring without constantly learning new things?
Good one.
very inspired poetry ...
A splendid write.
Blue skies and sunshine
building blocks you wrote about here. It looks like you used
the right mortar for yours.
Continued happiness to you.
You most certainly learned the art of building blocks well my friend. That is easily seen by anyone who knows you. You are a loving husband, father and friend.
In life, people join us on our journey and if we listen and observe there is much we can learn. It is obvious that you are a wonderful student of life.
This poem punctuates that point.
Peace,
