Poem Artwork

Layer upon layer of experience line my life
Layers of mistakes and layers of strife
Layer upon layer of good times and laughs
Make it seem worth all the bad from my past

Layers of memories line my inner thoughts
Family and friends lining my heart
School days and marriage, child birth, pets and deaths
Linings of me that help me to express

Layers of years spent in time learning to be me
Layers of experience that plain make up me
Things that make us unique are the layers in life
Heartaches and pleasures in our individual times

Under all the layers that plain make up me
Weighing me down so my soul can’t fly free
Are memories of bad times I need to peel free
Then to expose the inner layers of me

Layer upon layer of experience line my life
Layers of mistakes and layers of strife
Layer upon layer of good times and laughs
Make it seem worth all the bad from my past

Life is an acquisitional process. We acquire knowledge. We acquire experience. Love, friends and respect we earn. And age, is a gift from God. Very interesting perspective so vey well penned. Give us more. Jon Michael Willey

Life's journey can sure be a bumpy one, so many ups and downs, but that is how we all evolve into unique and valuable individuals. Good write, enjoyed.

Some of the bad times I have to remember, so
I won't make the same mistakes.
I love remembering the good old memories..

Theresa,

A most beautiful introspective write; very well done! The good times and the bad times make up who we are. The good times make the bad times worth it, as you powerfully state in the last stanza. I wouldn't trade my life for anything, because it's my life. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
