Poem Artwork

 Rousing my senses

The morning sunlight,
with its bright eyes,
peaked tentatively,
from behind the remnants
of the evenings' shadow.
Gently pushing aside,
and drawing curtains
that hung across,
obscuring the awakening
of the new day.

Bright eyes now opening
golden arms lazily stretching
reaching across the fields and planes,
closer then...
to greet me at my window,
light,
gently tapping,
calling to me silently,
rousing my senses,
to greet the beauty,
of this enticing day.

Bird songs
a heavenly choir,
prolific in its melodies,

No more,
are trees and shrubs barren and naked,
but now....
heavily pregnant,
and bearing branches of greenery,
with soon to birth,
sweet smelling blossoms of love.

Beauty of colour,
soon to fill the beholding mind,
hungry to take in all that's on offer,
in awe of creations' beauty,
that has been given us !

Elga, talk about rousing one’s senses, wow, this is a beautiful well-penned composition dedicated to spring does just that. aka Ode However, me personally, I’d prefer it to be summer all the time. This old body doesn’t like any type of weather, except warmth …lol. All joking aside my precious friend, I surely hope you are going to stick around and continue to allow the world to enjoy your exceptional poetry. I have been extremely busy these past few weeks, but I have found the time to read your work. Why you ask, good question. Elga, it is because it is some of the best poetry on this site, and you put such tremendous effort into all your presentations, that one cannot find pleasure reading it. You know how to reach me. Take care and be well.

Well, just the page opening with the beautiful flowers was a lovely treat in itself, Elga, but I also liked the poem. Unusual play on words with "peaked" versus "peeked" in the first stanza.
