You grew old first not in your own eyes, but in other people's eyes; then, slowly, you agreed with their opinion of you.

Julian Barnes (1946– )

Poem Artwork

Look not in my eyes, for fear
They mirror true the sight I see,
And there you find your face too clear
And love it and be lost like me.
A. E. Housman (1859–1936)

Your Eyes

Your eyes, dark, sensual, captivating
Yet they pierce through me like a laser
Emitting a focused beam
Right into the depths of my soul
Your face unlined, belying your years
Still you exude immense graceful charm
Of your well defined handsome features
However, an air of loss and sadness
Is silently expressed upon your face
You don’t smile often…
Although, your full lips,
Are seemingly passionate
A slight tilt at the corners
Urges the sensuousness of a full smile
That will radiate with warmth
And light up your face
Flowing into the depths of
Your eyes, dark, sensual, captivating!
