Canopy of Twinkling Stars  Will the moon cast her magic? Upon the lovers once again And the stars; will they only tantalize The forlorn eyes Which look heavenward? With longing and hope!  Another night slipping away silently The canopy of twinkling stars That had been visible in the dark leaded skies  Are now less bright There is a strange glow in the heavens A greyness, Tinged with a honeyed amber And in that silence that had prevailed Is now the sweet dawning of bird song The sun valiantly stealing a glance With a tentative wink of golden shimmer, From beyond the deep horizon Yet a wistful slumber fills the air The hushed whisper  Of utopian breath heaves sighs of desire …longingly Is it only in dreams?
