Allow me the freedom to fly

Like a confused lost soul
I wander through thoughts
Of intricate mazes
Weaving and wending
Just as I think I have found my way
I am faced with yet another turn
Sometimes a dead end
Where I have to retrace my steps

But all looks so unfamiliar
Different and complex
I reach out to touch
Everything seems so distant
And larger than life
I feel so afraid at times intimidated
Just needing a warm touch
A sense of belonging
Of being wanted!

Aimlessly I trudge on
Through pathways obscure
Tired, just wanting to give up
To curl up in a dark little corner
To be forgotten and left alone
No more mind games
No more hurt or pain
Just silence and quietude

I want the angst to cease
The burden lifted
And the sword of Damocles to perish

To feel and live love
How it should be, not afraid!
I desire to laugh from the heart
Smile from the soul
Feel vigour surround me
And infuse my being with joy
Replenish my spirit with fire
As the surge of adrenaline flows through me
And invigorates the desires
Allowing me the freedom to fly!
