Sometimes I think back about my parents who died when I was still in my twenties and I guess can't help but wonder what would they think if they saw us today....

Poem Artwork

Proud Mother

I think you’d be proud of me

I really believe you would

I am driving in that  big stretch limo

Just like I always said I should

Yea I know it not the same

Because I don’t sit in the back

I’m just moving back their slowly

At least I might be on the right track

I think you’d be proud of me

Got another book published today

I think you’d like this one, I do

I had something important to say

Well no it’s not a best seller

No, my other one’s out of print

At least I’m making progress

Someday someone will take the hint

I  think you’d be proud of me

I live in a nice new house at last

Yea I know it’s highly mortgaged

But it’s better then I had in past

Little dreams come true they say

I dream of you Mom and Dad, a lot

I wonder if you guys are proud of me

I still can’t be someone I’m not

You know Mom, I do think you’d be proud of me

As you gaze down from heaven’s gate

Proud of the man I have become,

Proud even if things for me came a little late

I am a loving husband at least I try to be

A father who tried to do his best for all

A grandfather now who spoils his two little girls

Yea, you’d be proud of me because you’d know…

in these loved ones eyes I stand  so tall!

Proud isn't strong enough!! She would be bustin' her buttons!! What a touching tribute you have created, Felix. Thank you, too, for the wonderful photo. Look at those impish grins. What a bunch of charmers!! Especially your mom. What a love!! Instantly tell how much she loved all of you. Her smile says it all. Always, and Then, 'Pea' <3

No one else will ever fill the place in our heart where we hold the love of our parents. No matter if they were good or bad, they gave us life and for that we owe them gratitude. I think they would be proud of you Felix, because they raised you to be a "good man" and you are certainly that. Accomplishments are for fulfilling our dreams, not theirs. They want for us to be happy and to be good people. Wonderful poem, Felix.
Take care,
Sherry

Oh you know she is proud of you, Felix! Looking at that photo, she seems so sweet and loving--a slight and delicate frame, she must have been sensitive--yet strong enough to raise a large family. Qualities that are reflected in you. And yes, in your loved one's eyes. Oh I love the old b&w prints. Thank you for sharing this. Sweet write. Congrats on your book!
