Little Brother
Brother John slept on a cot out in the hall
His treasured toy box stacked along the wall
Younger than me by a year or two
Yet we shared a lot of life its true
He cause my Mom for sure a little grief
When he painted Donald duck in relief
With glossy eyes and a haze of smoke
The words in bold “Who stole my dope?”
At sixteen John decided he wanted a car
A flashy black Chevelle would travel far
Man big brother envied him that ride indeed
It was powerful and truly made for speed
I remember the day John bought a bike
Billy and I thought we should make a trike
He was lucky we couldn’t find training wheels
Or I’m sure we would have felt his boot heels
John’s pride and joy was his mane of hair
Even when he aged he still kept it there
You should have seen the look of shock
When in his fifties he cut off his thinning locks
He’s an actor, a director, a booster and a friend
A father to his children he’ll love until the end
We shared a lot of happy smiles and painful tears
And through the years kicked back a lot of beers
So before this gets too long and far too sappy
Just want to tell you John I hope you’re happy
It’s your birthday and I wish you all the best
As little brothers go you know you passed the test!
Thanks, I wish I had kept that piece of the wall with Donald and the other drawing of Mickey Mouse (Stoned Again).
And so that everyone knows, the car was actually a 67 Beaumont, two door, 283 motor in it, dual hush trush exhaust, baby moon hub caps on wide tires with white lettering, and painted Yellow, but Fee couldn't make that rhyme.
the bike was a 77 Yamaha, 750 cc, 3 cylinder, shaft drive and they often teased me about the training wheels before and after seeing me drop the bike. But I drove that bike from Burnaby BC to Nova Scotia.
Love ya bro and thanks to all your readers for the B'day wishes.
Happy b'day John
