This write is in response to a challenge by our friend Michelle about doing a poem about who we are...as I always believed who we are is best captured by what we leave behind the following is my entry...

Poem Artwork

Who Was I?

Voices hushed in silence

Pay respect for the dead

My soul is in their memories

And the words I may have said

I was my mother’s favorite

My Dad’s runt of the litter

Grew up on the edger of poverty

Dreaming of things that glitter

I became a father and a husband

The brother and the friend

I was the smile that lingered

I hope right up until my end

I was arms that could comfort

I was a joke to bring a smile

Some say a born romantic

With just a little touch of style

I was a writer and an actor

A country singer and a song

I was once a hippy protestor

If I thought things were wrong

I was a little boo boo fixer

With kisses to dried tears

I was the monster slayer

If the kids had night time fears

I was just a mere mortal man

Went through life the best I could

Remember when the seasons change

And the winds blow though the wood…

I was Felix

This is very nice Felix: sincere, full of feelings kindly revealed, but never totally exposed. Well done.

Really appreciate this take, past tense, "up to now" this is who you've been. Not bad for a life lived, eh? Much has been done in so many sentiments of heart.

I'm not sure if I'm liking the past tense here, Fee. I understand your meaning, but... it's like you created your own obiturary. Sorry for being so direct, but I like the Fee who IS!!

Becca~

You ARE Felix and a wonderful man who can accept others as they are without saying show me. I wish I would have had you in my life, for all the wonderful gentle things here that make up this guy named Felix. Wonderful poem, light, truthful, from the heart and soul, and very relaxing to read. Thank you for sharing as this actually did make me smile.

May The Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Felix, this is a wonderful self-portrait set upon the page for each of us to gather a bit of insight about the artist. I think it would be interesting to have those who are closest to us write this, too. It might take us one step closer to understanding who we are and what our purpose here, truly is.
Take care,
Sherry
