When my little granddaughter made me a bracelet of little plastic stars strung on a piece of wool...to me it was so special and was one of my favorite gifts of all time because she gave them to me and said they were...you guessed it... "Poppy Beads"

Poppy Beads

By: Poppy

There are prayer beads to solemn pray on

There are love beads from the hippy day

There are beads toe wear round your neck

And I guess worry beads are here to stay

I have the best beads in the whole world

Are these little plastic stars on a string

Only a loved grandfather knows the value

That these “Poppy Beads” can always bring

You see I keep them close beside me

On a picture of four sets of smiling eyes

Jamie Lee, Lily, Patrick and baby Isobel

Bring to my heart true contented sighs

No matter how bleak things seem to get

Only have to slip that bracelet on my arm

Look at the pictures of my four little angels

Each with their own special little charm

So you can keep all your expensive jewelry

To me they it has no more value than weeds

Because what’s worth more to me than anything

Are my own precious, plastic “Poppy Beads”

aw fee, that's lovely - i'm surrounded by kiddies at the mo (and singers, and guitarist rehearsing, and herds of visitors, and :Oo ) and it is the sweetness of kiddies and their ways that is the warmest smile of all, and here it is in your poem - very lovely :o)
