Poem Artwork

He Sits Alone

Tired and weary

He sits alone

Counting hours

Like some count

Days, months or years

Wrapped in tears

He sits alone

Heart weakened

By the shadows

Near insane

Feels the pain

He sits alone

In crowded space

End feels near

Where sorrow rules

Like vagrant fools

He sits alone

Stares into

reflecting glass

Of could have beens…

regret is one heavy load to carry, and your poem opens the gates to wisdom...for what is here & now will become a one of those "could have been" moments least we move forward from that emotional place such as "He Sits Alone" Love The Thought Weaving Inside This Poem

Depression, a killer of dreams and lives. A friend and I went to his house in Key West Florida a long time ago now and wondered how such a gifted man as he, living in a paradise such as this could ever think of taking his own life. Depression is the answer we came up with and suicide, he didn't know that it is contagious and that one of his beautiful daughters would follow his plan of exit. Sad, but an excellent penning. Thank you, J'nia

Lonliness is on hell of a companion. For some like Hemmingway it was enough to make him actually pull the trigger. I have been there many times but I just couldn't do it. Maybe he was a braver soul than I, or I am stronger. No matter. Hope you are well my friend.

When sorrow rules,,it makes for so much lonliness..it should never be the rule in one's life. Great write Fee!

Fee,
For me, the saddest part in this poem is where he sits alone in a crowd. I think some of us have been there; I know I have. Artists are prone to that type of loneliness, no? Love and Hugs,
Sheila

One of Pappa Hemingway's disciples although without ownership of a double barreled shotgun (why tempt destiny?) this is a sane tribute to a man that went insane for a second and choose to shot the demons taking over his head.
For whom the bells told?...they did it for Ernest.
Perfect, Fee.

Could have, should have, never look back, only live in the moment and behold the blessings in your life right now. Right now, the present, is all anyone has...Very reflective poem Fee. Hope all is well in your world. Be safe, and happy.
Much peace, love, and light my friend,
