WHOA! Such Truth is felt here and felt in tears!
May Peace still reign! as I believe it just deeply hidden and needs to be revealed!

Maybe society is always on the Eve of Destruction, but it seems more so now than in the 60's. Dylan and Lennon even more on point than 40 years ago, I think. "For what it's Worth..."

Fee, somehow I missed this poem, I cannot believe it! I guess I was busy in the keys...lol anyway, I have to tell you, this morning I heard John Lennon's Imagine song and really listened with new ears to the lyrics and embraced what he was trying so desperately to tell the world. What in the world has happened? The last forty years we were so fed all this peace and love and a new age...well we are here and it pretty much isn't the Nirvana we thought we were going to have. Somehow, we must get that back, get to a new way of thinking and become what John wanted in his song...I cry everyday for peace and the Universe is hearing but it's just so difficult...
My friend, you always know how to bring out the best in all of us.

clever expression of those songwriting icons...i just watched "across the universe" (movie musical using all Beatles songs)...anyway, seeds were planted in those hippy days with all the songs, peace rallys, love-ins, etc...long live Poets and Songwriters!

Right on the money with this poem Fee. Dylan is still a favorite as are the Beatles and all the greats from the 70s complete. Thank you for your friendship throughout the years Fee. I couldn't have done it without you. You're my bud!!!

I too was thinking of Lennon this week...in the pauses, between knocks of my Pileated Woodpeckers..."John and The Woodpeckers"

i'm just torn between totally accepting if we're the eve of destruction of or the dawn of a new world ... actually, i am swayed both is occurring simultaneously ... you poem is a somewhat satirical account of the prophets who sang their songs, who steered us supposedly into a more enlightened world ... Bob Dylan is now singing Christmas songs, though he is giving the profits of his CD to charity ... and i do miss the spirit of John Lennon ... i often wonder what he would have offered us ...

maybe, somewhere out there, there is a backstreet poet who will open us to a new frame of thought ... though poetry doesn't seem to make much a difference in the world perhaps a poet/leader can ... as far as politicians go, they are the reason for our world's ineptitude as well as the power-mongers who feed them ...
