Fog weighs anchor in the harbour,
shroud covering it’s imperfections,
hauntingly distant a bell buoy tolls,
to and fro on ocean’s gentle swell,
outbound ship, fog horn belches,
stirring offended sea birds to flight,
flotsam and jetsam tell a story,
only Neptune knows the ending,
soul feeling the smell of salt brine,
lost heart yearns, he knows not why,
song lines adrift in a sailor’s mind,
facing again, into the Southwest breeze,
resigned, he leaves yesterday behind…
Fee this is one of your best, a keeper for sure. I have always loved walking in the fog...but it is so much better by the water.
peace and love, Carole~
This one creates a lot of imagery for me Fee. In fact, Neptune shared his knowledge with me.... It's really not the ending, it's the beginning of a brand new day. Soon the fog will lift and although his mind is still adrift, the sailor does indeed leave yesterday behind as he heads hell bent into tomorrow,,,, and beyond. Dick
This is beautiful! As someone who lives near the coast of Maine I feel this one and it perfectly describes nearly every harbor and coastal setting! Thanks so much for sharing this!
Fee, You painted a walk in fog at sea in perfect harmony with the surroundings that go hand and hand with your mindset, felt like I was right there, could even hear the fog horn belch, Great work!
