Although I don't consider myself old, I do find the time flies by more quickly yet there is also more time to contemplate and try and understand our lives, past, present and future.

 Universal Soul Travels

By: Fee

I’ve seen the darkness filtered through the holy star-lit light

With tortured soul, my bleeding heart…hiding in the night

I’ve buried secret taboo memories, only I few others knew

Anointed them all with teardrops, I bled in icy, sapphire blue

I have walked the quaking-line between the afterlife and I

Fell back to purgatory, in foul resentment, just to wonder why

I’ve danced the dance of demons, to an orchestra of silent screams

Then made peace with the devil, in sin-sated midnight dreams

Now as my earthly time grows shorter, as days more quickly pass

I see my life in bits and pieces, through my imaginary looking glass

I see the goodness I’d forgotten, a balance to my heavy load of sin

I accept the sunshine with the gray skies, so my ending shall begin…

An engaging and thought-awakening write, Fee. I too have found that the older I get, the faster time seems to go. /2020 is certainly in that category but 2021 seems to be going by even more quickly. At least I am never bored, retired or not now for almost 10 years. Love and peace to you, Fee,

Regis. 🌳🌲🌎🙏🍁

Isn't it funny how we obsess over the negative without taking time to appreciate the good. I'm certain there must be a clinical reason for it, but I think it's something we do out of fear. It's like being mesmerized by a snake or walking through a strange, dark forest. We are forever on our guard.

You have summed up how many of us feel about ourselves at times: Sometimes we are our own worst enemy, and other times we just shrug our shoulders and say "Ugh! Whatever! There have been some good moments anyway and the sky isn't so gray after all."

Great job with this poem! I really like how you have expressed yourself!

As imperfect human beings we look at our lives and assess…
Sunshine and grey skies..
Yet when all is said and done, the goodness and kindness
weighs down those scales far more heavily than the rest…
and the loving source of the Universe welcomes us all…

Sometimes our dreams be like that. But I'm glad your life wasn't. But who knows what dreams shall come? But do we have the courage like Robin Williams to go there sooner than prescribed?
