After doing some research on four famous senior citizens I realized that we are never too old to start something new. George Burns was 80 when he decided to launch a solo comedy career. Grandma Moses did not start painting seriously until she was 70. So as long as our hearts are beating we should welcome each new opportunity and challenge that the good Lord places before us.

There was a famous body builder who at age 70 towed 70 boats; his name was Jack Lalanne. Elder President Bush was 85 when he decided to parachute out of a perfectly good plane. Grandma Moses was 90 when she started painting very famous art that people wanted to frame. George Burns, a very talented comedian; lived to tell jokes to 100; laughter was his claim to fame! So the story goes, we are NEVER really too old. Being old is not a number it’s actually a state of mind. So when someone tells you that you’re too old to do this or that, just recite this poem - especially the first FOUR lines! Not only their success' are impressive, but there is much to learn from our elders, who've been there and done it all. Nice write.

Amen to that! We are only as old as our inhibitions, and we tend to build up a lot of those over time.

I'm not sure I could give up a perfectly good plane myself. Keeping the mind young sounds good though. I had heard the brain actually prunes itself, cut's off dead receptors etc. YOu can in fact wire yourself a little different I supose. ~ Morgan

Great inspiration as I am a senior, and my dad was one who always believed this motto, he lived to be almost a 100, and started many projects in his senior years, he was a great teacher of life. Nice to hear that you posted this message for us.

We are never too old to start something new as long as our minds and bodies will allow us to do so! Even then, most of us still press on! Very good material for this post; I enjoyed reading about the seniors who started late in life to do something spectacular.
