I lost a wife to cancer one day.
Her folks abandoned her the last few years of her life.
They did not want to face the truth; they just walked away.
Then one day she was lying in a hospital on her death bed.
Her folks woke up and decided to show up instead!
I was not amused by all of this, so I let them have a piece of my mind.
I was a bit upset, I was mad as hell and not feeling too kind.
After this was all over, I was cut off from this family full of fakes
But I was wounded so badly
I wondered if I actually made a mistake!
You see if you focus on what hurts so bad it will only hurt more.
Then the hurt will grow and fester
It will literally mop you all over the floor.
So it's better to just forgettaboutit!
Focus on the future and eventually things will look up.
Getting well is the BEST revenge, we need heal and fill THAT cup!
It's NOT easy to "Just Forgetaboutit !"
Pick up pieces of a shattered life and then walk away
But it's a better alternative!
For it’s a road to a better life starting
right here,
right now,
today!
In life we all have ups and downs.
But it's better to "Just Forgetaboutit"
Do not let those bad times get you down!
Amen!

There are those moments in life that cannot be completely
explained....with words, but you've, John Michael, succeeded.
Thank you for your heartfelt, amazing poetry.
With warm regards Isabella.
You are right to denounce them for what they were. You're also right for moving on and forgetting about it.
I learned that lesson early on when most of my “so-called” friends deserted me when I became paralyzed. After much depression and loneliness, I gradually worked myself out of that state and started making real friends who were interested in the color of my character and not in what I looked like, or seemingly, to them at least, what I couldn't do. I proved them all wrong, and some are gradually working their way back.
