There are so many studies coming out that tell us that having a pet will help heal people with broken hearts and can make the sick feel well. Why then are people discarding pets in our society today? What have we learned? Most homeless would not treat their pets that way. Perhaps we can learn from the heart of the homeless today...

Many homeless have compassion for stray pets and treat them much like rich folks treat gold Homeless folks may have little but many still have big hearts and are kind, sympathetic and bold God does not make junk! However, some folks can be very cold and very cruel Homeless know what it's like being discarded like scrap and treated like a fool If I had to trade off all that I own I could never trade away my pets; no way! For we love and depend on each other, we are meant to be partners in life everyday! Some homeless have more compassion than most; so what does that tell us about society today? Who could rest their head on a pillow after discarding a priceless pet by throwing them away? Even wealthy could learn from some homeless folks; they could learn about life and true love We should be thankful for our precious pets, for they are angels sent to us from the Lord above. Amen!

John,

I was only going to read tonight. have a very sore hand because of arthritis.. but I HAD to review your poem. I have a precious pet, a little house dog. I can't imagine the kind of heart a person much have to abandon or abuse a pet who would love them unconditionally given the chance. I hope this poem wakes some people up. Outstanding.

We sadly find more and more abandoned, abused, and homeless pets on the streets of America today, and I sadly wonder how so many can be so heartless in our nation today.

And I know several homeless people that take better care of their pets than many people with means do. I just wrote about one of them in my recent poem - The Good Samaritan.
