It seems late night snacking is a part of our culture. Perhaps all the advertising has us habitually reaching for a snack to go with that evening game or picture show.

Poem Artwork

Popcorn and movies seem to go hand and hand.

Late night snacks seem to be the craze across the land.

What is Monday night football without drinks and a snack tray?

But the rest of the week we have to pray those calories away!

Since most of us like to snack at night it’s best to eat light

After all of that snacking our system needs to take a rest…

So, let’s call “time out” twice a week to wake up feeling best!

I am a twenty-four-hour-a-day snacker . . . Have no idea how I have lived this long.

We certainly are addicted to snacks. Late-night snacking is probably the greatest cause of the inability to sleep and obesity.

Makes me remember the time when I would eat an entire popper of popcorn in the early evening, making sure that I didn't eat late. And, never put butter on it. But there came a time when I started having reflux and had to get rid of heavy snacks with a lot of fiber in the evening at all. But that popcorn never made me fat because it was whole-grain. I remain skinny and weighed about 130 pounds. The biggest mistake we have is developing a cream, butter or sugar addiction that is sure to add to the calorie, salt and cholesterol intake.
