Choosing to Celebrate Mother’s Day Today

Honoring our father and mother is a commandment. Our parents are far from perfect and we may have our differences but we should respect and honor them anyway. This is not always easy but it’s a commandment from the Lord and not a request. Amen

Today is not a traditional celebration of Mother’s Day Where restaurants are packed and the waiting lines are longer! Where cars are bumper to bumper and the traffic is much stronger! Why should we pick only one day out of 365 to honor mothers this way? We have choices to make and today I choose to celebrate Mother’s Day! Why? It’s because it’s time to Honor my mother and I have a lot to say. Dear Mom, I know that we have had our differences throughout the years We been through many heartaches and suffered pain with many tears There may have been many things that I have done or said in the past But the past is behind us for I know a mother’s love is meant to last So please forgive me for whatever I have said or done I forgive you too I HONOR and LOVE you Mother I will ALWAYS be your son Peace, Love and Blessings, © 8/30/18 John Michael Domino

A lot of pain passed between my mother and me. I believe we forgave each other at the bitter end.

I know what the commandment says, but respect and honor are earned, and the sad fact is, there are many parents who are not worthy. I was lucky and had good parents for the most part, and I honor them. Now having said all that, Your poem was beautiful tribute.

Mother's Day was started in the little church in Grafton, West Virginia, I believe back in the 1920s. If you would decide to have your mother's day on the day before Labor Day, and enough people pick up on it, you could start a tradition with this request. Then we would have two Mother's days. But we all better hurry because almost every day now is celebrating something and the number of days is running out. Are those days costing a lot more as a result?

Mom called again last Monday. Her choice, at 93, she has a hard time hearing the phone ring and getting to it when someone calls her. Anyway, we share the weather another important things 1200 miles apart. She can no longer use email to connect with her network of many, many friends and relatives. Can't say we ever had a falling out. Hardly ever disagreed on things either.

Glad you are honoring your mother in poetry.

(maybe my father) never, never my so-called mother.
