This was written Sept 24, 05 and this is a true story of what happened here in our friendly city
R I T A
Rita, Rita, you followed the path of your sister Kate You hit the coast of Louisiana and Texas with a terrific force Homes and buildings were splintered, you louse With the vengenence of a mad woman all nature lost
The courage of the Cajun prevailed He stood like an oak against the wind and the rain When the water rose he ran to his perogue to flee
The people of Lafayette took them in They were happy and content Here we all had a hand to lend; no one went hungry or unclothed
The hospitals opened its' doors to all who were hurt or ill No money needed, no questions asked There was shelter for all
They were not thought to be a heavy load They were friends in need and we were there to help
You didn't beat us yet, we will fight and flee And God will be with us thru it all For we were made strong by the storms of life and our faith will carry us thru.
The beautiful picture of the rocks and the water was not excatly what it was about but we are still hard at work rebuilding and repairing and with trust in God and hope, it will get done. Sometimes, we must tear down in order to rebuild. Suffering and hard work make us stronger and we must have high hopes for a better tomorrow. This is what our country was built on. GOD BLESS AMERICA
Beautiful tribute to those who rose to the occasion, accepting friend and stranger into their home, city, lives. If anything, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita flooded our hearts with compassion. Excellent write!
Neil Armstrong played the Dissolution of America Card After His Return From Space-- the Military Dishonor Card. He had a very messy DIVORCE after a military Platoon Experience for his wife and family.
The Cajuns have prevailed through some of the worst trials imaginable; you see it in their faces and hear it in their music.
Wonderful words of hope you pen; very well done! BRAVA!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
Saving this one! :)
I've seen first hand that is truly has, in both of these devastating storms, Marguerite.
Beautiful tribute to those who rose to the occasion, accepting friend and stranger into their home, city, lives. If anything, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita flooded our hearts with compassion. Excellent write!
