As for William's comment, well I'm afraid it is invalid. The invasion of Iraq was nothing to do with American security and everything to do with American greed. And of course our generation have know seveal genocidal maniacs - Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Lyndon Johnson, Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair and George W Bush.
And so we come to WW3 which as I write is kicking off in Israel.
Beauty to you and William. One who speaks from reading and another who speaks from experience. This is capsule of Americana and why so many aren't doing much but talk. We all need to find our good for the strength it lends.I appreciate both of you as fine poets and with all our voices we can make a huge difference.

You write very well. But, when you take up the lashing of our President, who put us into Iraq, I regret your subject matter, because I don't see in your poem, recomendations to insure our safety. Sorry, but your generation has never known despots, terrorists, Hitlers, and the like, who will kill to reach their goals. Dreaming and hoping for peace (whatever that is) without realizing the dangers in the neighborhood, is patently, stupid.
I sincerelly hope that those who want to write away war with the pen, or pray it away, wwill learn that it has been tried and regretted throughout history. Appeasement of thugs, including those "religious," who damn well mean what they say and try to do, is a route of danger and death. Yes, I'm an alarmist. But, who is listening, since those younger don't believe it can happen?
Since each of us write with sincerity and conviction, I hope we are still friends. - Bill
