In the Silence

It was during a time when life seemed to overpower my being

When I thought my Lord had turn his back, not listening to my appealing

“Why have you turned away, Dear Lord,” I cried and cried

“You promised you would never forsake me.  Could it be you lied?”

I prayed and prayed, an entreaty with what seemed to be no reply

I felt abandoned and cried out, “Oh my dear Lord, why?”

For all my prayers, appeals, cries and petition

I felt isolated from my creator and his son

Finally my entreaty ended and my voice fell silent

I felt unloved and emotionally and spiritually spent

That was when in the silence I heard Gods’ voice reply

It was a glorious sound, calm and peaceful, not more than a sigh

In his voice I heard his answer and thus felt his existence

“I have been with you all along yet you doubted my attendance

I speak with a hush like a warm summer breeze

Only when you fell silent could your mind be at ease

My Son, when you want and need to feel my presence

Let your mind search for me and my son in faith and in silence
