I took my afternoon constitutional this afternoon
The air is still and quiet, the skies are gray. Promising rain soon
However as I walked along, surveying the clouds of gray
I wondered why the much needed rain seemed to want to delay
There was no breeze blowing in my face. The air was quiet and damp this day
The clouds that had floated as billows in the sky today were muggy and gray
Yet, though the skies keep promising rain there seems to be a delay
Any rain that we may get today would be a greatly treasured prize
Even a slight but constant drizzle would be welcome in our eyes
Yet, though we watch and hope for rain to fall out of the ionosphere
There comes no rain, no shower, and no drizzle given up by the atmosphere
So I simply stroll along and watch and wait for the rain to form
Oh, what joy when the sky finally opens up and we receive a good rain storm?
