Fever

Where have you gone, Patti Page?

Heat from within,
mortal sin,
wavering in the distance.

Heat from without,
with a doubt,
shimmering in resistance.

Mind grows dim,
thoughts are grim,
vaguely in persistence.

Chances are slim,
on the rim,
all life's existence.

Delirium comes,
night sweat sums,
to pool that persistence.

Until it breaks,
or life it takes,
on the other side of existence.

See it coming in the distance?

Metaphor and prophecy combine to make exceptional art in these lines. I suspect most don't want to "See it coming in the distance" but we owe the poet Ronald W. Hull for making us look anyway.

So many news and magazines lead with botox and age defying creams. Would be more meaningful for me if they were concentrating on Mother Earth.

Yes, our once blessed earth is certainly sick. You shine a poetic light on the topic, and in so doing introduce a spiritual part of yourself that I've never seen before in any of your writing.
Blessings ...

This is like a slap in the face with a frozen towel, Ron, a wake up call to all who wish to believe that life is exactly how it seems. You have crushed my rose-colored glasses and hit me with a beam of laser light right between the eyes. One of your best writes, in my humble opinion.
Take care,
Sherry

Patti ran off with the owner of that doggie in the window . . . Wow! You got on the other side of surreal with this one, Ron . . . Actually it seems so on first read, but I know it really isn't "out there,' it is reality staring the reader in the face . . .
