Thank you, Jimmy Webb

After fifteen years of waking up five to fifteen times a night for necessities, I find myself dozing while trying to read or write.

Poem Artwork

Of sleep deprived,
I have arrived,
to a place of wrought.

To stare at the screen,
without a dream,
interceding on my thought.

To try to compose,
while the end of my nose,
dives into the extreme.

Asleep at the wheel,
I try to feel,
the edges of my stream.

But it is for naught,
for without a thought,
I’m live at some scene.

Only to awake,
after a brief break,
start over from when.

Woe is the cost,
of all this time lost,
I will never, ever have it, again.

While MacArthur Park,
Melts in the dark.
I drift off in the rain.

insomnia, the uninvited guest that arrives shortly after midnight and stays until daylight -- sleep deprivation, thy name is thief of my dreams, desperado who herds my time away -- go, go and never return to my door again -- Ron, as an insomniac, I know too well the grief this bandit who absconds with my time brings into a human being's life --I am unable to offer you a solution to the dilemma my friend -- peace and love be with you -- Jon Michael
