I must admit I had some trepidation
about writing this and revealing my
weaknesses, but it is no more than
many other poets have done.

Perry the Pervert Game

 Craving

We all have our craving,
we won't admit,
because craving is verboten,
it just doesn't fit.

With a balanced lifestyle,
that everyone wants,
but craving sneaks in,
one of our hidden faults.

I crave good food,
and marvel at its taste.
But I know when to stop eating,
my only good grace.

I crave true life stories,
and heroic feats.
I'm not lost in fantasy,
fact always defeats.

I crave knowing more,
about this world and its people.
Dispelling the myths,
and wondering about its sheeple.

I crave communicating,
and not holding in.
Not a private confessional,
or the bullshit of sin.

I crave sleep,
for I don't get enough.
Sleep is my refuge,
the source of my stuff.

And I crave intimacy,
with the opposite sex.
For it is only normal,
and not some damned hex.

Whatever you're craving,
let it come out.
You'll feel all the better,
and cast out all doubt.

A good poem can be one that opens the 'floodgate' for readers and it looks like this one cheerfully did that. I like the message here that a person can crave, and can balance the crave. Nicely human piece of writing, Ron. ~~ Diana

Well said Ron. We all have some things we crace for verboten? That's a German word. Spricht du Deutsch? A lovely write which potrays the fact that only when we are true to ourselves can we be happy.

Excellent, of course, as always. Nothing wrong with cravings. We all have them. Admitting to them though is a huge step forward in our earthly progression.
Well done, my friend.

Beautiful Ron, beautifully brought out cravings, they are all natural rights and what would one be without cravings especially when we are carving our words all the more so for a writer.... at least it is not drugs and cigarettes and snuff and what not without which many cannot create!! JK

I recognize it absolutely. I have so many cravings too. Sometimes I feel like it's matter over mind, instead of the other way around. And then suddenly, I don't need much for days! Well, who cares? Just here to enjoy and have fun, right? Greetings, D.T.

...deeply...wistfully...expressive of thoughtfulness
with a ting(e) of sadness...pensive poem. But...a penny
for your true thoughts. In my...with the "peace of mind"
...you never crave much...you've got all you need
and when you need it...all the time...though...appreciate
being invited to your private and intimate cravings...

I've got my habits,
both good and bad,
and constant cravings,
that drive me mad.

A very relateable write.

I see no weaknesses here. Just honesty. This is aptly reflected in your verse:
"I crave communicating,
and not holding in." Craving, aside from being a kind of lusting after something, can also be a type of hungering or thirsting for something. You often mention, in my inventions concerning nature, that you long, or yearn, for past days when you wandered through nature alone... For example you said recently:

"It makes me long for those silent walks that I took so many times like Thoreau on Walden Pond with only my thoughts to commune with."

Longings like this help soften the hardened parts of my nature. A fine insight, Ron, well received by this reader. rlc

You can have your cravings, but you can't really tell people what they should, and should not write though. I've tried that once, and everyone was mad at me for telling others what to write.

Poets live their own lives, very real, not like fantasy. Some of the thing they can reveal to others, but some they can't reveal because they have to think for their own families concerned. You always have to think about the real world, remember?

To force others to write about what you want to read may seem a little too childish, like a child begging for a story to be told.

Yep. We all crave. A natural phenomenon. I gave up on trying not to ogle women. I ogle unashamedly, and sometimes receive a sweet smile for my ogling. Maybe it's my age. They might feel safe. Heh.Heh They're not.
