I am literally overwhelmed with the pace of technological
development and understanding. While some fear this
rapid rush to speed and better quality and clarity, I have
to welcome it for what it does to improve our perception
of our world and our place in the universe.

Clarity

Our world is now in high definition,
instant information and communication.

There is no place that can hide,
delay high scrutiny cannot abide.

Is it good or bad? It's hard to tell.
Some find it threatening, some find it, hell.

I find it interesting, how people react.
Some believe that we are under attack.

Wonders of nature are being revealed,
in startling clarity previously concealed.

Peering into small, infinitesimally so.
Worlds onto worlds, the further we go.

Outward into space billions of years,
discovering origins, and possibly, our peers.

Creating options, too many choices for some.
Some are embracing, and some are on the run.

How we choose will change the future,
like well performed surgery, sutured by suture.

We can't sew over history's past mistakes,
we can reverse trends with whatever it takes.

Some try to dim the images with myopic thoughts,
but clarity is clarity, regardless of, "What oughts."

Some deny understanding from their true belief.
But revealing clear images give them no relief.

Change is unending and will always reveal,
once what thought to be heresy turned out to be real.

The higher the definition, the faster the pace,
the better for all, the whole human race.

The world and its minions of animals and plants,
its stewards and servants and psychophants [sic].

Held here by gravity on a rapidly spinning world,
high definition is spinning the truth unfurled.

Who knows where this clarity will eventually end,
I welcome it with open arms. Do you, my friend?

It's not good or bad, how can I handle that? Nice poem Ronald.

Beautiful Ron. Love the internal rhyme in the first two lines. Makes a great (positive) difference to the poem. You generally rely on rhyming lines and manage to keep the poem so good in spite of it. I am wary of rhyming lines because I don't know how to use rhyme effectively. I find internal rhyme easier and more natural. But then you are you and I am me. Wish I could write like you.

I love this poem. It affirms that we're living in a moment of incredible changes, as if human culture has taken to the fast lane. It fabulous, challenging and scary at the same time. With so much new knowledge coming on-stream, it's easy to get trampled in the stampede.

I appreciate the philosophical perspective about our modern world that you have shared through your verses, Ron. Interesting! Love and peace,

For me, I am almost 70 now and old school was always my way. It seems somewhat threatening but this is the new age. It's just to bad that we spend all this time working with our minds and our bodies suffer with the lack of toil, needed to build pride and strength in completing a difficult, physical task, such as work.

I can see why the "greys" have no body muscle, long fingers, and huge brains behind those buggy eyes. There will be no use for muscles in the legs or arms..........................oh, hon! Don't get me going! lol

Love ya!

I for one sadly wonder if it is improving or worsening the perception of our world and our universe for younger generations today. When I was kid, my friends and I camped, fished, hiked, explored, and learned to love nature and all its wonders. Kids today partake in these 'real world' activities less and less now; they would rather lock themselves in their rooms where they are now glued to the latest high tech devices as soon as they out on the market. I find it hard to imagine how this 'high tech generation' is going to be able to save our natural world when they care so little about it.

I DON'T KNOW, RONALD, I STEP KIND OF LIGHTLY. CLARITY FOR SOME IS CONFUSING AND UNNECESSARY FOR OTHERS. AND BY THIS I MEAN IT'S ALMOST LIKE WE'RE SPINNING TOO FAST - DELVING INTO THINGS WE SHOULD LEAVE ALONE...LIKE THE ROBOTS, THAT WILL LEAVE PEOPLE W/O A JOB AND CLONING, SO WHO ARE WE NOW...GOD!?! NO TELLING HOW FAR WE'LL GO. BUT ON A LOCAL LEVEL; IS IT, STAY WITH WINDOWS 7 OR UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10? MILLIONS HAVE CHOSEN TO GO TO 10 BUT I SAY, LEAVE ME ALONE - 7 WORKS JUST FINE, THANK YOU - I'LL STAY WITH 7. I MEAN, WHY FIX WHAT'S NOT BROKEN? I KNOW, I'M OLD AND HAVE ALWAYS FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO MAKE A CHANGE, BUT FOR ME 'CLARITY' IS BEING SATISFIED AND GRATEFUL TO BE WHERE YOU ARE. I KNOW EXACTLY WHERE ALL OF THIS CONSTANT 'THIRST' FOR MORE AND BETTER WILL LEAD THE SCIENTIFIC WORLD...WE'RE GOING TO EVENTUALLY DESTROY OURSELVES - JUST LIKE THE WORD OF GOD SAYS. A VERY INTERESTING POINT AND ENJOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

While I appreciate advances in medical technology, my computer, and cell phone, I refuse to operate an electric can opener. I'm another one who is content inside her own "cosmic world" as Jerry put it.

Yes I do welcome it, although I doubt I will partake in much off it. I am quite satisfied with my little cosmic world. Have my computer. Talk to people all over the world. Have my cell phone, never thought I would own one. I still read books. Real books. There are those who are unable to read books and those people read online books. I am happy with my part of the Cosmic world.
