Regrets

Regrets? Oh yes, I've had a few,
into every life regrets come due.

But I don't let regrets drag me down,
face life with a smile, not a frown.

Regrets can put a weight on you,
you try to hide, but they show through.

Don't let regrets hang around.
Don't let them drag you down.

Don't regret that you let them go,
they weren't for you; only for show.

Don't regret that you lied.
Everyone lies that they hide.

Don't regret that you missed the boat,
the gangplank to it disguised a moat.

So if you go through life with regrets,
thinking, What ifs? and, And yets…

Don't blame me for telling you,
that regrets are just a pile of doo.

But then, I'm me, and you are you.

Sometimes it is the life mistakes we make that set off a series of events leading to a change in us for the better.

A wise write with beautiful flow.

Much said in the timely poem. One can not change what has been or what has happened. It's part of the past. We all have regrets about certain things that have happened in life. Unfortunately those events can't be changed. It all depends how we accept, deal with what is happening in the here and now....M

The choice is basic. Do you want to live, or do you want to live? Do you chose to weed the garden or create and explore? Well said Ron, I agree each of us controls our own destiny to a great degree. May love and peace be always with you my friend. Jon Michael

Life is chance...taking chances gives fears to many. Yes, all of us have different paths to travel and like your picture says, we only regret the chances we didn't Take! Excellent, Ron!!

Always,

I'm glad I waited to read this. Your words were exactly what I needed to read after a day like today where I've struggled with PTSD and the sorrow of a lost friend. It's hard not to regret things such as this but I continue to work toward focusing on what is good with my life and how strong the past has made me. Thank you for reminding me!

For 15 or so years you have been reading of my "regrets" & have helped me through them even though they were all for the most part a pile of doo...and for that help I must say thank you to you, from me...

REGRETS ARE 'LEARNING TOOLS' WE ALL HAVE THEM. THE UNWISE ALLOW THEM TO BECOME STUMBLING BLOCKS. THE WISE USE THEM AS STEPPING STONES. DONE WELL, RONALD. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

It reminds me of the phrase: "To err is human". One could say "to regret is human"; but I agree with you completely not to let them "drag you down". I have known people who spend a lot of time regretting this, that and the other things. Always looking to the past. I am just the opposite. I regret very little. If anything I accept and move on, again, as you so wisely suggest in this wise poem. John

Cleverly created, Ron. I have to agree with the advice (philosophy) that you share through your verses. Now to live it; that is a whole different story for me. Love and peace,

Regrets seem the residue of a long life, different from lamentations, which are innate to being born humans. Nice to take a little time to consider their utility and lack thereof. Thanks, Ron.

Yep. You're you and I'm . . . me.
That's the way it should be.
Oh, sure we have regrets.
Don't keep them like bad debts.
