I did not realize that there are so many songs on YouTube with that title. ;-)

Racing to a Red Light

In the hurry, burry rush of life,
we often have a goal in mind.
But distractions cloud our judgment,
as we rush to try and find.

A moment when we can rest our head.
A moment when we can just relax.
But that moment doesn't come,
when intrusions exact their tax.

We all are on the fast track,
when we are carefree and young.
Time is ours to use, just having fun.
Creeping responsibilities soon come.

Responsibilities continue to rise,
with new technology; each new show.
We find there is no time left,
as tasks and requirements grow.

We start putting off what we will do,
saying, "I'll get to it next year."
And then we rush off trivially,
on the very mundane that we fear.

So if you are racing to a red light,
stop and think about where you're going.
Slow down, relax and coast to that light.
It might turn green while you're rolling.

This is great advice, Ron. I find that the older I get, the faster time flies. When we are young, we can't wait for things to come. Now that I am older (not necessarily wiser), I wish time would slow down a little at least. Love and peace,

Regis

I'M WITH YOU. 'CAUSE YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL; WE ARE NEVER IN THE WRONG PLACE BUT JUST WHERE GOD WANTS US TO BE...IN ORDER THAT 'HIS' PERFECT WILL CAN BE DONE. SO RELAX, SLOW DOWN AND THINK... FOR NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN THAT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN ANYWAY. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

We need to be more observant in our life, with all the hustle and bustle it isn't easily done, there are reasons for the red lights, we ought to take heed, well done Ronald, have a great day xo

Well said Ron! I find myself in a hurry for nothing too often. Then I have to pause and take time out and just enjoy that Red LIGHT TIME OUT! It's not easy to do but it's well worth it. Amen

Taking time to enjoy life shouldn't be put off until it's too late. Thank you for the reminder.

Your thinking in this poem is so dead on. We are all in such a hurry anymore. It's as though there is always someplace I have to be, something I have to do, and on and on. It simply does not end, and seemingly, it does not slow down. Oh, it's getting scary for me to have to come to a stop for a red light. I'll tell you something , but you have to promise to not tell the cops. I fell asleep at a red light the other day, and when I woke, the cars ahead of me had moved on and were way down the street. I was fortunate that the people in the cars behind me didn't join forces and commit some sort of road rage against me over that one. You did a fine job on this one, Ron. I enjoyed it a lot.

Actually I usually try to avoid the red light districts but with an afternoon cup of tea by my side, I guess I am following your poetic advice.Well penned my friend.

Over here, between lane changing, and racing to the red light, you would think that people actually need to get somewhere. Perhaps they should leave a little earlier, then they would be able to take your advice at the end of the poem. Well stated. John

One time when I was riding with my dad, he slowed down at a stop sign but never actually stopped. Unfortunately there was a state trooper that saw him do it and he pulled my dad over citing him for a "rolling" stop. That was one lesson learned. Cool write.
