Just a reflection on how most poets view punctuation and why I punctuate my poems as described in my article yesterday on Punctuation.

Image Courtesy PoemSearcher.com Punctuating Poetry To punctuate the positive, is the goal of many I know. But poets wallow in negative, as fortunes come and go. Poets leave their legacy, with words that guide us so, words replace required marks, for those in the know. The many forms of poetry, are like so many games. Figuring out intricate trajectory, I guess is their primary aim. I place my marks, here very carefully, to aid in, simply, my, cyber composition quest. I have no doubt, that the syntax clout, will insidiously call me out, at my inquisition arrest. For while I may be, punctuation savvy, I doubt if any critic, will find my punctuation, poetically worthy. Copyright 2018 © Ronald W. Hull 9/26/18 You can read this poem at my website here.

To each his own. Some poets rely on punctuation for clarity, others find it detracts from the fluidity of the work. I'm one of the latter. I use punctuation sparsely. Enjoyed the poem, I always enjoy your work.

There are as many opinions, views and styles as there are writers. I don't know about the message, but to me, what really makes sense here, is to hear and feel something that represents the author of the poem and the way he sees the world through his verses.

I find your punctuation very "poetic worthy". As for myself, I am a classicist and stick with the traditional punctuation. Only rarely do I unpunctuate a poem.

Yes, I agree. I always use punctuations in my poems. I think even if I had used the wrong punctuation in some places it might still help the readers to know when to take a break when reading the lines.

I don't feel right about a poem with no punctuation which makes me read and read and don't know when I should take a break to catch my breath.

Your words here are worth every writer's attention, for whether poetry, prosetry, short story, novel or texting, for many of us, obviating the comfort afforded the reader by placing punctuation as best we can is part of the reason one should write: to share thoughts worth sharing. Of course, in the social media world, the influence of tweet mentality has all but abolished the rightness of influencing readers with noteworthy opinions and facts. Thank you for the reminder to all writers: write to be read for the purpose of fully understanding the language used.
