I originally meant this poem to have multiple interpretations. So don't get hung up on the last stanza and look beyond your walls for other perspectives or horizons.
I am always searching for new horizons with an open heart. I don't always find them but I live in hope and self discovery. Thank you for your positivity and vibrant poem, Ron. I have enjoyed it .
I am now traveling towards my new horizon; dialysis started & need it to stay alive, so this poem is very much something I can identify with at this juncture...-e-
I think of the many people I've known over the years who stayed in the small circle that they were born into. They cannot envision any other existence because they never stepped outside. In my life, I have traveled, met people from all over the world and tried new things. It has been a much better life for taking the risks. I feel sorry for people who never "left home."

"if you can see yourself as others see you, and at the same time see them as they see themselves, you have partially cleansed the door of perception" i'm so thankful, there's always a new horizon ...

Yes, but the only ones we cannot run away from, is ourselves. We take us with us through the gate haha! But I like the positivity in this poem, cheers!

Great poem and has many meanings. We can be brought low physically, but stretch our minds to the horizon and beyond. There are no limits, but the ones we put on ourselves. I love how your mind works!
Couldn't help but latch onto your 4th stanza, "We'll never break out of that familiar mold, so set in our ways until we get old." For me, and I think for others on this site, it was only the getting older that gave me the freedom to break out of the way I'd lived my life for the mere sake of being and doing what was expected of me; a person with the answers. For the past 15 years, I've broken out, conducted my explorations into that "horizon" and discovered what I'd always yearned to be, a person with no answers, only questions. Thanks for a quietly composed nudge for any and all who need it.
