Just One Example of Moral Injustice

Urge

Admit it. We all get the urge.

It comes about gradually,

or in a mighty surge.

An impulse to act,

upon the sight of delight.

An impulse to act,

anytime, day or night.

Society strictly controls,

most of these urges.

With sanctions and taboos,

preventing emerges.

Resulting in urges going,

deep underground.

And then, appearing in websites,

where they still can be found.

The powerful and prophet,

have decreed what is moral.

Creating rules to their liking,

leaving others to sorrow.

Eliciting much emotion over,

what is really not bad.

Creating false mores,

that are really quite sad.

We must free our minds,

of this curbed urges strife.

Freedom to act for good,

rather than ruined life.

One time, a colleague of mine, a professor of home economics related this story to a group of us:

"Last month, I gave a speech before our national organization conference. I got up before the podium, and then told the audience of mostly women, feeling quite uncomfortable. 'Excuse me, I'll be right back.' I left the stage and returned shortly. Before I gave my speech, I said, 'That's much better… I just removed my corset.' The audience erupted in laughter, many of them wishing they could do the same."
