Got my second Pfizer shot yesterday. This poem is some semblance of what went through my mind in the early hours of this morning.

Life's Race © Ingram Pinn in Financial Times Get It You've got to get it, get it, get it, afore you find it's gone. Afore the morning sun wipes, the dew from new mown lawn. Afore the rooster crows his dominance, to his hens before the dawn. Got to get up and going, no time to fake or fawn. The rat race waits for no one, to get their act together. You have to slog on to the end, whether fair or foul weather. Through all years with tears and fears, until the struggle you have won. No time to take it easy, holding on is so much fun. And when you've got it, got it, got it, was it really worth the struggle? Was anything left of the way it was, before it was reduced to rubble? Copyright 2021 © Ronald W. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY SHOTS. WHY? I TOOK THE FLU SHOT YEARS AGO AND GOT TERRIBLY, TERRIBLY ILL. I WAS YOUNGER THEN AND I MEAN...EVEN MY EYELIDS HURT, I WILL NEVER FORGET IT. NOW I AM SO GLAD THAT I DIDN'T GET ANY MORE OF THAT BECAUSE THEY HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THE FLU SHOT PRECIPITATES ALZHEIMER DISEASE. I READ THAT IF ONE HAS HAD A NEGATIVE REACTION TO ANY IMMUNIZATION SHOT, THEY SHOULD COMPARE THE INGREDIENTS TO THE COVID INGREDIENTS. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT...AFTER ALL THESE YEARS HOW DO I EVEN BEGIN TO FIND OUT THE INGREDIENTS IN THE PARTICULAR SHOT I GOT?!? OF COURSE THE FACILITY WHERE I AM AT FROWNS ON MY CHOICE BUT THEY DON'T FORCE AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE. ALSO, PERHAPS YOU REMEMBER; I'M A HOME BODY...I NEVER WENT TO ANY OF THE SOCIAL ACTIVITIES ANYWAY, PLUS, AFTER A YEAR I'VE BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO WEARING THE MASK....INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING AND I STILL GO AND COME WHEN NECESSARY VERY NICELY. NOW, TO SUM YOUR FINE SHARING ALL UP? WHAT DOES IT PROFIT ANYONE, ANYWHERE...TO GAIN/GET THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD AND ITS RICHES, BUT LOSE THEIR SOULS? THAT'S HOW I 'GET THIS' RONALD AND THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

An apt treatise on the dangers of engulfing oneself in the rat race. Would that more like you could see the primary means of happiness and fulfillment rests in the conscious respect and awareness of the inner voice of reason and love we all possess. That inner-self is more powerful and logical than most realize. So much of our woes in the world could be ameliorated by avoiding the sharp turns and roadblocks in chasing after what one thinks is the answer. Reminds one that roads less traveled are the most rewarding.

Love your use descriptive phrasing. Though felt that the use of rhyming was a little contrived. And in the end this is a very expressive poem. A simple voicing filled with the life from which it is born.
