The United States offered assistance, belatedly, yesterday. Other countries will follow. Some nearby countries have been there for refugees since the beginning.

(AP Photo/Andrew Marienko) Far Away (No Longer Out of Mind) There was a place far away, out of sight and out of mind. Where crops grew, cattle grazed. People were hard-working and kind. A place to be ignored, even bored, when pounced upon by the unkind. A tyrant so brash and blind, he, expected the world not to mind. Expected this place of tranquility, to be an easy target of his might. Enhancing his sociopathic ability, expecting other countries not to fight. But the global village was awakened, to the horror of an insane bully acting up. Still action against him must take caution, before we all drink from the nuclear cup. But a sleeping country has come alive, the world knows of its plight to survive. The tyrant has nailed his coffin shut, as long as world resistance thrives. Long before he sees his own demise, narcissistic bully will feel increasing pain. Forcing him to leave his grand mission, with nothing but loss and no gain. Copyright © Ronald W. Apt verse for a worthy cause, not by accident the cause embraced by all humanity. Thanks for expressing so succinctly what everyone of us should be feeling in the brazen face of these atrocious acts by such a 'little man' deluding himself with such inappropriately big ambitions... -K2

Bravo to your powerful pen, Ron!

It is all heart-wrenching and as a grandmother and great-grandmother my soul is ripped in two for the infants, children, teens and mothers. The Ukrainian men are Great Men of Valor! My prayers attend them day and night!

I pray you are right, but I tend to agree with Sandie.. it is all pre-planned.

Here's hope that your prediction comes true. A great poem during this difficult time. Well done, Ron. The sooner the Russian army stops breaking the norms of international law and retreats back into its own country, the better off the world will be.

This war is senseless!!! I am appalled at the rapid loss of lives of civilians. I kept wondering if this has been a pre-planned war to depopulate this world since the pandemic had failed the expectation because many don't believe in the pandemic anymore.

Now, the world seems to be loosening up on the pandemic's restrictions, but I think this is just because they have to allow the refugees to come into the countries unvetted and maskless.

Our Ontario government, Ford, was well-prepared for the incoming of refugees. We had been receiving hundreds of thousands already. Ford had even announced the lifting of the restrictions by the end of March before the war had started as if he knew there would be refugees coming into Canada. If this has been a pre-planned war for the purposes of depopulation it's a very CRUEL way to do it!

Ronald, your words say it all... How true! How sad! In my mind, possibly in the mind of this writer, I think this invasion as a prelude to the end of the world.

One nuke will lead to another...

Those poor people in Ukraine. Those poor, poor people! Thank God they have a leader. Shame we do not.
